Wych Lodge Lake is situated on the northern slopes of the Blackdown Hills close to Staple Fitzpaine in Taunton. Following its recent restoration this venue has a lot to offer the angler. Taunton Angling Association in partnership with the Heritage Lottery and the Environment Agency have improved the lake by desilting and removing vegetation from the bed of the lake and increasing the surface area available to anglers. There are two purpose built disabled platforms on the south side of the lake with full wheelchair access. There is also a path around the lake leading to the north side where you will find 6 able bodied platforms to fish from. There will be four more fishing platforms on the south side of the lake to the left of the disabled platforms once the ground has dried out sufficiently to enable machinery access, until then this side of the lake will remain closed until further notice. The lake can currently accomodate eleven anglers comfortably this will be increased to fifteen once the new platforms are installed. The lake has been fully restocked with roach, skimmer bream, perch and carp.
