Today’s Match Results at Thurlbear Pond. The 26th August

The Match was fished by 10 Anglers. The weather was a little on the wet side. But the rain is more than welcome. The pond being about a foot down on the water level.
I think that had its toll on the Fishing. With most of the deep water peg producing the fish.

Ian Burton getting second with 4kg dead.
Paul Blake Rounding out the top 3 with 3kg 775.

Today’s Match Results at pines . The 3rd Round of the presidents cup. The 22nd July

11 Anglers fished the match.
Another match in blistering heat.
So most of the best fishing would be early on in the match. The skimmers did not stay on the feed for long in the bright conditions.
Most of the carp being in the upper layers.
So the pellet waggler was the way to go helping Dan Baldwin to the Match win with over 13kg
Graham pepper with a fish over 12lb on the pole. Putting him into second.

Today’s Match results for Stathe Drain. The 15th July

We started the match early so we could try and avoid the heat and the sun. But is was still hotter than a crack heads spoon.
Fishing was very hard I think we needed to start around 4am to make things easier.
Kev Williams  is still on his hot streak. He managed to win what was a close match with 2kg 775 of Roach & Rudd.

Unsurprisingly the Tench and Bream didn’t show?

Weekends Match Results

We fished bull street for the 1st time in along time.
With the water being painfully clear it was hard to string more than two bites in a row.
The problem being pike. As soon as the Roach moved then bang a pike would coming crashing out the water.
John Andrews sorting out some quality Roach
On the Waggler with single caster.

Coronation cup.
Presidents cup round one.

The 1st Match of the New season
With 16 Fishing it meant a long walk for some.
It was a much harder match than anticipated. With most struggling to get any roach feeding.
The Bream and carp were there earlier in the week. But they were spawning.
Steve on the end-peg had Bream rolling in his swim all day.
He did however go on to win with over 8 kg after losing as many as he got in .

Worm and sweetcorn catching the Bream.

Match Results from Creech ( Canal )
12 Anglers fished the Match.

With the Canal being ever so clear and not a cloud in the sky.
This was going to be a tough match. On the way down to the pegs I don’t think I saw one fish!
Whilst setting up the odd Tench started to appear from the shadows. Not in my wildest dreams did I think they would stay with us.
But they did.
Kev Williams having 3 Tench and some Quality Roach Rudd & Perch. That was good enough for him to win the match and the golden peg.

Simon Garbutt having 2 Tench and losing 1 for 2nd. Would it of been enough🤦🏼‍
Chris Parr catching a Tench on the whistle putting him into 3rd place🎣
The Roach Fishing was slightly harder to string bites together. Shane Portlock  managed to get it right putting over 4.5kg in the net on the end peg.

The new tickets are available on the website and the Match fixture list is in the downloads.

So that’s it for my 1st full season. Only 2 weeks till the start of the new river season

Wych lodge Match 20th May
12 Anglers Fished.

With things really hotting up this week. Most were hoping for a carp peg in the sun.
The rest would have to make there mind up carp or silvers?
Things where slow to start on the carp pegs but the Skimmers and Roach where quick to get there heads down and feed.
With dead red maggot over micro pellets being the best method.
The carp soon started to show quickly overtaking any silvers weights.

Steve Priddle winning the Match with several carp for 11kg475
Kev Williams was 2nd with a Combined weight of silvers and carp for 10kg 450
Dan baldwin winning top silvers weight.

A quick thank you to the bailiffs.
The banks and the lake were in mint condition as always👍

This weekend’s match was held on the Canal at Charlton. The 6th of May

On a really hot day things were going to be hard.
Not to mention the boating event and the charity cycle ride.
But that was not the worst of it. The floating algae was coming up so thick making Fishing from some of the swims almost impossible.

Kev Williams making the most of it with a swim clear from Algae.
Getting the Match win with just under 5kg.

Well done Paul Chivers on his 1st TAA Match catching the only Tench of the day putting him into 2nd.

Today’s match the 22nd of April  was held at Charlton on the Canal.
Also being the Ivor Topp Cup.
Fishing down stream of the road bridge a section not used for Match’s in several years.
7 Anglers fished the match.
With the Temperature really picking up this week the algae is floating to the surface. Making whip fishing near impossible.
That said there was plenty of fish to be caught.
The Tench being caught on the worm and caster line.

11 Anglers fished

1st John Dursley 5kg 450 Enterprise Angling
2nd Dan Baldwin 4kg 250
3rdIan Brewer 3kg 900 top silver weight

The lake fished Hard today with coloured water coming in the top end.
Making the noted Carp pegs switch off.
The skimmers are still growing well coming into the summer months.
The 8oz stocked carp now 1lb -1.5 and should be pushing 2.5lb at the end of this summer.
The Forestry Commission have been down and cleared the dam wall of trees & bushes.

I dont think it looks too bad for it and should open up a few more stalking spots.
Also letting some more light in should help fish growth.

Regards Dan

11 Anglers fished.

It’s a Section the match Anglers have not fished for several years. But with some good catches coming from here over the last week. We decided to give it a go.

It turned out to be not that bad considering the time of year.
if anything we could have done with a bit more colour. With the shallow nature of that part of the canal and the better stamp fish. The fish do tend to back of you when the water starts to clear.
